Universal ABC Beauty Supply International recalls dietary supplements

The FDA and Universal ABC Beauty Supply International have notified healthcare professionals and consumers of a recall of 34 dietary supplement products. An FDA analysis found undeclared sibutramine, an FDA-approved drug used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. These products pose a threat to consumers because sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias, or stroke.

Consumers who have these products in their possession should stop taking them immediately and contact their healthcare professional.
