Abbott announced a voluntary recall of 20 lots of FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite Blood Glucose Test Strips in the U.S.
The affected test strips may produce erroneously low blood glucose results when used with the FreeStyle Blood Glucose Meter, FreeStyle Flash Blood Glucose Meter, and OmniPod Insulin Management System.

Blood glucose test results are not affected when used with newer meters including FreeStyle Freedom Blood Glucose Meter, FreeStyle Lite Blood Glucose Meter and FreeStyle Freedom Lite Blood Glucose Meter.
The affected lots have an expiration date between May 2014–March 2015. Find the full list of recalled lots here. Abbott is notifying healthcare professionals, pharmacies, distributors, and customers about the recall.
