Zydus announced a voluntary recall of one lot of Paroxetine Tablets 30mg after receiving complaints of finding Risperidone Tablets 0.25mg in the same bottle.

The recall affects 30-count bottles of Paroxetine Tablets 30mg with Lot# Z701133 and an expiration date of 03/19. The lot was distributed between May 23, 2017 and July 12, 2017.

The Risperidone Tablets 0.25mg are dark yellow, round, biconvex film-coated tablets with a “Z” on one side and a “4” on the other, compared to the Paroxetine Tablets 30mg which are white to off-white, round, biconvex film-coated tablets with a “ZC17” logo on one side and plain on the other side.

A Health Hazard Evaluation indicated a high risk to the patient ingesting the foreign tablet. However, the difference in appearance of the two types of tablets was determined to be easily detected by the human eye.
