FDA warns of dangerous ingredients in Magic Power Coffee

The FDA is warning consumers that Magic Power Coffee, an instant coffee product marketed as a dietary supplement for sexual enhancement, contains an undeclared active drug ingredient. The FDA has analyzed Magic Power Coffee and has found it to contain hydroxythiohomosildenafil, a chemical similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra (from Pfizer), which is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Hydroxythiohomosildenafil, like sildenafil, may interact with prescription drugs known as nitrates (eg, nitroglycerin) and cause dangerously low blood pressure.

Consumers who have Magic Power Coffee in their possession should stop using it immediately and contact their healthcare provider if they experience any adverse effects that may be related to use of the product.
