The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting healthcare professionals and emergency responders that certain lots of AtroPen (atropine), CANA (diazepam), morphine sulfate, and pralidoxime chloride auto-injectors manufactured by Meridian Medical Technologies can be used for up to one year beyond the labeled expiration date.
This announcement is following the FDA’s statement on November 22, 2013 about supply disruptions and potential expiration date extensions on certain Meridian auto-injector products. The expiration date extensions are intended to alleviate potential shortages of these auto-injectors while manufacturing issues are being resolved.

The full list of lots for the four products can be found in the FDA’s Memorandum. It is not required nor recommended that the specific lots be relabeled with the new use date. The FDA recommends the replacement of these auto-injectors when the new supply does become available.
