Purdue Pharma announced that Dilaudid Injection (hydromorphone HCl) 4mg/mL has been discontinued as of May 31, 2016.
The discontinued product has NDC 59011-444-10 and is packaged in a box containing 10 ampules. The Company announced that new orders are no longer being shipped.
Dilaudid Injection, a CII controlled substance, is indicated for the management of pain where an opioid analgesic is appropriate. Hydromorphone HCl is a pure opioid agonist with the principal therapeutic activity of analgesia. Opioid analgesics also suppress the cough reflex and may cause respiratory depression, mood changes, mental clouding, euphoria, dysphoria, nausea, vomiting and electroencephalographic changes.
Dilaudid Injection is still available in a 2mg/mL strength and Dilaudid-HP Injection is available as 10mg/mL solution or 250mg/vial powder for reconstitution.
