Bee Pollen Capsules Contain Hidden Drug Ingredient

The FDA is advising consumers not to purchase or use Ultimate Formula Bee Pollen Capsules by Ultimate Formula, a product promoted and sold for weight loss.

Laboratory analysis confirmed that the product contains sibutramine (previously marketed as Meridia), a controlled substance that was removed from the market in October 2010 for safety reasons.  Sibutramine is known to significantly increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a risk for patients with a history of cardiovascular conditions (eg, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke).  This product may also have fatal interactions with other medications a consumer may be taking.

The FDA recommends that consumers should stop using this product and throw it away immediately.
