The FDA is advising consumers to not purchase or use Asset Bee Pollen, a product promoted and sold for weight loss on various websites and retail stores.
A laboratory analysis found that Asset Bee Pollen contains sibutramine, a controlled substance that was removed from the market in 2010. Sibutramine is known to significantly increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients . Sibutramine may also present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke. The products may also cause potentially fatal interactions with other drugs the consumer may be taking.
