Alert Issued for The Compounding Shop’s Budesonide Solution

The FDA is warning against the use of budesonide solution from The Compounding Shop due to possible contamination. This particular product is being used for nasal irrigation.

Visible, white, floating material was observed in the 1,000mL bottles. The material was identified as a fungus and may be present in other budesonide solution products from The Compounding Shop. Contaminated drug products, whether used by inhalation or otherwise, put patients at risk for infection.

Healthcare providers are to immediately quarantine any budesonide solution products from The Compounding Shop.
