Several new pathogens have been added to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s 2019 Antibiotic Resistance (AR) Threat Report. Since 2013, deaths from antibiotic-resistance threats have decreased by 18% overall, however resistance to antibiotics is increasing in 7 of the 18 pathogens identified in the report. For the first time, the CDC used electronic health data to calculate the estimates of infection and death associated with healthcare-associated pathogens.
