Recall: Rhinitis Treatment May Contain Small Glass Particles

Apotex announced a voluntary nationwide recall of one lot of Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray, 50mcg (120 metered sprays) after a customer complained of finding small glass particles. 

Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray is a corticosteroid indicated for the management of the nasal symptoms of perennial nonallergic rhinitis in adults and pediatric patients aged 4 years and older. The glass particles contained in the spray may obstruct the actuator and affect the pump functionality. Patients using the defective product may be exposed to the glass and experience possible mechanical irritation or local trauma to the nasal mucosa.

The affected product has a lot number of NJ4501 with an expiration date of 07/2020. The Company has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall at this time. Any adverse reactions or quality problems related to this product should be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program.
