The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have released revised recommendations on the consumption of fish for certain target populations. The revised advice was designed to encourage pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as parents of young children, to eat a variety of fish for nutritional benefits, while at the same time, limiting the amount of mercury consumed. The advice is dispensed in a chart format in order to easily recommend appropriate types of fish and the amounts that should be consumed based on the target audience (ie, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, young children).
