Epiduo Forte Gel Now Available for Acne Vulgaris
Galderma announced the launch of Epiduo Forte (adapalene and benzoyl peroxide) Gel for the once-daily, topical treatment of acne vulgaris. It consists of two antibiotic-free medicines and helps treat moderate to severe acne on the face, chest, back or shoulders.
Epiduo Forte combines adapalene, a retinoid, and benzoyl peroxide, an oxidizing agent. Adapalene binds to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors but does not bind to cytosolic receptor protein. Biochemical and pharmacological profile studies have demonstrated that adapalene is a modulator of cellular differentiation, keratinization and inflammatory processes. Benzoyl peroxide exerts bactericidal and keratolytic effects.
Epiduo Forte Gel was approved in July 2015 by the Food and Drug Administration. It is available as a 0.3%/2.5% strength in 15g, 30g, 45g, 60g, and 70g pumps.
