Although the wearable technology is not widely available yet, surgeons have expressed interest in incorporating Google Glass into ORs to reduce errors.Dr. Rafael Grossmann, the first general surgeon to use Google Glass in the OR, says that access to patient records via the technology while operating could save lives. Security concerns are still lingering, particularly regarding HIPPA and patient privacy information, but it has been successfully used at Beth Israel Deaconess for accessing past medical history, current vital signs, and triage notes in the ER.
