OCuSOFT announced that Zytaze (zinc citrate and phytase) has been approved as a medical food to provide nutritional support to enhance the effectiveness of botulinum toxin injections in the treatment of blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm or facial cosmetic procedures. This approval was based on clinical study data in which Zytaze demonstrated marked enhancement of botulinum toxin injections in the treatment of blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm or cosmetic procedures. Zytaze is formulated with a proprietary, patent-pending blend of highly bioavailable, organic zinc and phytase (an enzyme that breaks down phytates and improves zinc absorption). Zytaze may extend the duration of botulinum toxin treatments by almost 25%.
