Zegerid OTC available for frequent heartburn

Merck and Schering-Plough Healthcare Products announced that Zegerid OTC (omeprazole 20mg/sodium bicarbonate 1100mg capsules) has been made available over-the-counter for the treatment of frequent heartburn. Zegerid OTC was first approved by the FDA in December 2009. Prescription Zegerid Capsules and Zegerid for Oral Suspension will continue to be made available by Santarus.
