Vagifem 25mcg to be discontinued

Novo Nordisk announced that Vagifem (estradiol hemihydrate vaginal tablets) 10mcg will become the only available formulation of Vagifem for the treatment of atrophic vaginitis. This action is in accordance with medical recommendations for women to use the lower effective estrogen dose to treat the symptoms of atrophic vaginitis due to menopause. Novo Nordisk will discontinue the sale of Vagifem 25mcg on July 30, 2010, which will remain available through pharmacies and wholesalers while supplies last.

Patients currently taking Vagifem 25mcg should visit www.newdosingoption.com or call (866) 668-6336 and ask their healthcare provider if switching to Vagifem 10 mcg is appropriate for them.
