American Regent has announced the availability of Tralement™, a combination of trace elements (zinc sulfate, cupric sulfate, manganese sulfate and selenious acid) indicated in adult and pediatric patients weighing at least 10kg as a source of zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium for parenteral nutrition when oral or enteral nutrition is not possible, insufficient, or contraindicated.
Tralement is supplied in 1mL single-dose vials containing zinc 3mg, copper 0.3mg, manganese 55mcg, and selenium 60mcg. The treatment is not recommended for patients who may require a lower dosage of 1 or more of the individual trace elements. The product must be transferred to a separate parenteral nutrition container, diluted and used as an admixture in parenteral nutrition solutions.
“We are pleased to offer the first FDA-approved multiple trace elements injection, which has been specifically developed to align with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) recommendations for trace element supplementation,” stated Joann Gioia, Associate Vice President, Commercial Operations and National Accounts at American Regent, Inc. “The concentration of each element in new Tralement™ has been formulated to meet the needs of a broad range of patients.”
The Company will halt distribution of Multitrace®-5 Concentrate upon distribution of Tralement.
