Today Sponge available again for contraception

The Today Sponge, a vaginal contraceptive sponge, has been made available again by Mayer Laboratories. The Today Sponge is a soft polyurethane sponge containing the spermicide nonoxynol 9. It works by blocking the sperm’s path, by absorbing sperm, and by continuously releasing nonoxynol 9 which kills sperm on contact to provide 24 hour, hormone-free, contraceptive protection.
