Perrigo announced a recall of 10 lots of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide Gel (1.2%/5%) due to the presence of a small amount of mold on the caps of the tubes.
The affected products are supplied as 45g tubes with the following Lot #:

No adverse events have been reported to date but Perrigo states that the small amount of mold signifies a low risk of infection, especially in immunocompromised patients.
Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, the generic version of Duac, is indicated for the topical treatment of inflammatory acne vulgaris. The clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide components have been shown to have activity against the organism Propionibacterium acnes, which is associated with acne vulgaris.
Distributors should quarantine any affected material in the warehouse immediately and remove it from distribution.
