Some preparations of Dilaudid (hydromorphone HCl) have been discontinued

Purdue Pharma has announced that some preparations of Dilaudid (hydromorphone HCl) have been discontinued.

The affected products are Dilaudid 4mg tablets in unit-dose 4×25 count cards (NDC 59011-454-01), Dilaudid-HP Injection 10mg/mL in 10-count boxes containing 1mL (NDC 59011-445-01) and 5mL (NDC 59011-445-05) ampules.

Dilaudid, a CII controlled substance, is indicated for the management of pain where an opioid analgesic is appropriate. Hydromorphone HCl is a pure opioid agonist with the principal therapeutic activity of analgesia. Opioid analgesics also suppress the cough reflex and may cause respiratory depression, mood changes, mental clouding, euphoria, dysphoria, nausea, vomiting and electroencephalographic changes. 

Purdue is no longer shipping any new orders of these products effective September 30, 2016.
