Prevacid 24HR available over-the-counter

Novartis Consumer Health has launched Prevacid 24HR (lansoprazole 15mg delayed-release capsules), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), as an over-the-counter (OTC) treatment for frequent heartburn. Clinical study data shows that Prevacid 24HR provides patients with frequent heartburn more heartburn-free days and nights compared to placebo.

Prevacid delayed-release capsules (from Takeda) will continue to be available by prescription only in both 15mg and 30mg dosage strengths.
