A recall of one lot of CVS Health 12 Hour Sinus Relief Nasal Mist (oxymetazoline HCl 0.05%; Product Quest Manufacturing) has been initiated after the product was found to be contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The recalled nasal decongestant has a Lot number of 173089J and an expiration date of 09/19; it is packaged in 0.5 fluid ounce bottles. Use of a nasal spray that contains a Gram-negative bacteria can potentially lead to colonization and subsequent infection that for some patients (i.e., those who are immunocompromised or with cystic fibrosis) could potentially be life-threatening. At this time, there have been no reports of adverse events related to this recall.
