PerioSciences announced the launch of Dry Mouth AO ProGel and a new formula of its Hydrating AO ProRinse for the treatment of xerostomia (dry mouth). The new products are part of the Hydrating Oral Care System.
Preliminary research has found that patients reported significant relief from their dry-mouth symptoms with daily use of the original AO ProVantage formula. The new formulation adds glycerin to phloretin and ferulic acid for the neutralization of destructive free radicals in the oral cavity caused by normal digestion and metabolism as well as by inflammation, infection, disease, and tissue damage from certain treatments. Reduced antioxidant capacity has been associated with low levels of saliva linked to oral diseases such as dental caries, gingivitis, and periodontal disease.
