Afaxys announced the launch of EContra EZ (levonorgestrel) tablet, an over-the-counter (OTC) emergency contraceptive.

EContra EZ can be used up to 72 hours after unprotected sex or suspected contraceptive failure. The single tablet works principally by preventing ovulation or fertilization (by altering tubal transport of sperm and/or ova). Also, it may inhibit implantation by altering the endometrium.
