Valeant announced that Luzu (luliconazole) Cream is now available.

Luzu Cream was approved by the FDA in November 2013 for the topical treatment of athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm caused by the organisms Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum in patients>18 years old. Luzu Cream is currently the only topical azole antifungal approved to treat interdigital tinea pedis with once-daily 2-week dosing.

Luliconazole is an azole antifungal that appears to inhibit ergosterol synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol demethylase. Inhibition of this enzyme’s activity by azoles results in decreased amounts of ergosterol, a constituent of fungal cell membranes, and a corresponding accumulation of lanosterol.

Luzu Cream is available as a 1% strength cream in 30g and 60g tubes.
