Aqua Pharmaceuticals announced the launch of Cordran Ointment (flurandrenolide) 0.05% for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Cordran is a Class 4 topical corticosteroid that is also available as a cream, lotion, and tape. The mechanism of the anti-inflammatory effect of topical corticosteroids is not completely understood. Corticosteroids with anti-inflammatory activity may stabilize cellular and lysosomal membranes. There is also the suggestion that the effect on the membranes of lysosomes prevents the release of proteolytic enzymes and, thus, plays a part in reducing inflammation.
Cordran Ointment does not contain any preservatives or propylene glycol. It is available in 60g aluminum tubes.
