Nephron Pharma Responds to Sodium Bicarbonate Shortage

Nephron Pharmaceuticals has joined the effort to abate the nationwide shortage of Sodium Bicarbonate 8.4% by tripling its production of the injectable syringes.

The product batches are being distributed to hospitals across the U.S. via the Nephron 503B Outsourcing Division following available and approved data. This FDA-inspected facility operates certified clean rooms using current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to produce sterile products. 

Sodium Bicarbonate is indicated to treat metabolic acidosis, certain drug intoxications, and severe diarrhea. It works by increasing plasma bicarbonate, buffering excess hydrogen ion concentration, raising blood pH, and reversing the clinical manifestations of acidosis.
