Marathon announced the launch of Zingo (lidocaine HCl monohydrate) powder intradermal injection system for the management of venous access pain. It is indicated for use prior to venipuncture or peripheral intravenous cannulation in children 3–18 years of age, and prior to venipucture in adults.

Zingo is a hand-held, needle-free device that delivers a topical local anesthetic. It utilizes a helium-powered delivery system that numbs the site in 1–3 minutes. Lidocaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that blocks sodium ion channels required for the initiation and conduction of neuronal impulses, resulting in local anesthesia.
