Lastacaft® (alcaftadine ophthalmic solution 0.25%) is now available for sale over-the-counter (OTC).

In December 2021, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the prescription to OTC switch for Lastacaft, an H1 histamine receptor antagonist. The product is indicated for the temporary relief of itchy eyes due to pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander in adults and children 2 years of age and older.

“Seasonal and year-round allergies affect millions of Americans, from young children to adults, and we are pleased that Lastacaft is now available without a prescription as a safe and effective option to relieve itchy eyes caused by allergies within minutes,” said Jag Dosanjh, president, US neuroscience and eye care at AbbVie.

Lastacaft is available in a 5mL multidose bottle containing a 60-day supply and a twin pack with two 5mL multidose bottles for a 120-day supply.
