NovaBay announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the intelli-Case for use with hydrogen peroxide solutions.
Disinfecting contact lenses with hydrogen peroxide can be challenging because too low a concentration does not fully disinfect the lenses, and too high of a concentration can irritate the eye. This novel contact lens case monitors the neutralization of hydrogen peroxide during the disinfection process via microprocessor electronics embedded in the cap of the lens case.

The cap displays three LED lights labeled “UNSAFE,” “BUSY,” and “READY.” The green “READY” light blinks when the lenses are safe to insert into the eyes and continues to blink until the lenses are removed from the case. This new technology can help prevent contact lens wearers from residual hydrogen peroxide burning.
