Watson announced that it has made available Vestura (drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol tablets), a generic version of Bayer‘s Yaz oral contraceptive.

Vestura contains 3mg of the progestin drospirenone and 20mcg of the estrogen ethinyl estradiol. Vestura is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy and for the treatment of moderate acne in women ≥14 years old only if the patient desires an oral contraceptive for birth control. Yaz is also indicated for the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder in women who choose an oral contraceptive as the method of birth control.
