Teva announced the launch and availability of Methylphenidate HCl Extended-Release Capsules, the generic version of UCB Inc.’s Metadate CD.

Methylphenidate HCl, a central nervous system stimulant, is indicated for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Although the exact mechanism of action in the treatment of ADHD is unknown, it is believed that these agents block the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space.

Methylphenidate HCl are available in 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg, 50mg, and 60mg strength extended-release capsules in 100-count bottles.
