Teva announced the launch of a new 20mg strength of Dexmethylphenidate HCl Extended-Release Capsules, the generic of NovartisFocalin XR.

Focalin XR is indicated for use in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is the more pharmacologically active d-enantiomer of racemic methylphenidate, is thought to block the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space. The exact mechanism of action in ADHD is unknown.
