Teva announced the launch of Omega-3-Acid Ethyl Esters Capsules, USP, a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline’s Lovaza.

Omega-3-acid ethyl esters, such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), are thought to reduce triglyceride synthesis in the liver as well as block esterification of other fatty acids. They are indicated as an adjunct to diet for the reduction of triglyceride levels in adults with severe (≥500mg/dL) hypertriglyceridemia.
