Perrigo announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Clindamycin Phosphate 1% and Benzoyl Peroxide Gel 5%, the generic version of Valeant‘s BenzaClin Gel

BenzaClin Gel is indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris.  It combines clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, and benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial/keratolytic. The clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide components individually have been shown to have in vitro activity against Propionibacterium acnes, an organism associated with acne vulgaris.
