Teva announced the launch of Dexmethylphenidate HCl Extended-Release Capsules in a new 10mg strength, the generic version of Novartis‘ Focalin XR Extended-Release Capsules.
Dexmethylphenidate HCl is indicated for use in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is the more pharmacologically active d-enantiomer of racemic methylphenidate, is thought to block the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space. The exact mechanism of action in ADHD is unknown.
