Mylan announced the launch of Linezolid Tablets, the generic version of Pfizer's Zyvox Tablets.

Mylan announced the launch of Linezolid Tablets, the generic version of Pfizer‘s Zyvox Tablets.

Zyvox is an oxazolidinone antibiotic indicated to treat children and adults with susceptible vancomycin-resistant E. faecium (VREF) infections, nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and skin structure infections (including diabetic foot infections) without osteomyelitis, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections.

Linezolid works by binding to a site on the bacterial 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit and prevents the formation of a functional 70S initiation complex, which is an essential component of the bacterial translation process. 

Linezolid Tablets are available in a 600mg strength.
