Mylan announced the availability of Tramadol HCl Extended-Release Tablets, the generic version of Valeant‘s Ultram ER.
Tramadol HCl is indicated for the management of moderate to moderately severe chronic pain in adults who require around-the-clock treatment of their pain for an extended period of time. Tramadol HCl is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic. Although its mode of action is not completely understood, at least 2 complementary mechanisms appear applicable: binding of parent and M1 metabolite to µ-opioid receptors and weak inhibition of reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin.These mechanisms may contribute independently to the overall analgesic profile of tramadol.
Tramadol HCl Extended-Release Tablets are available in 100mg, 200mg, and 300mg strengths.
