Mylan Launches Generic Lipitor

Mylan announced that it has received final approval from the FDA for Atorvastatin Calcium tablets, the generic version of Pfizer‘s Lipitor tablets.

Lipitor is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor indicated for the prevention and risk reduction of cardiovascular disease (eg, myocardial infarction, stroke, revascularization procedures, hospitalization for CHF, angina) and hypercholesterolemia (eg, heterozygous familial and nonfamilial hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, primary dysbetalipoproteinemia).

Atorvastatin Calcium will be available from Mylan in 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, and 80mg dosage strength tablets and will begin shipping immediately.
