Mallinckrodt announced the launch of Methylphenidate HCl 36mg and 54mg Extended-Release Tablets, the generic version of Janssen’s Concerta. Concerta is a stimulant indicated for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in patients > 6 years.
Methylphenidate HCl is thought to block the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space.
The 36mg and 54mg strengths are now available in addition to the 27mg dosage strength, which was made available in December 2012.
