Lupin announced the launch of Duloxetine 40mg Delayed-Release (DR) Capsules, the generic version of Eli Lilly’s Cymbalta. This is the first generic Duloxetine formulation available in the 40mg dosage strength.

Duloxetine is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder, diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, and chronic musculoskeletal pain. Duloxetine is a potent dual inhibitor of neuronal serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. Although the exact mechanisms of the antidepressant, central pain inhibitory and anxiolytic actions in humans are unknown, these actions are believed to be related to its potentiation of serotonergic and noradrenergic activity in the CNS.
