H2-Pharma announced the launch of Fenofibrate Capsules, the generic version of Kowa’s Lipofen.
Lipofen is a fibrate indicated as adjunctive therapy to diet when response to nondrug therapy is inadequate in hypertriglyceridemia (Types IV and V), to reduce elevated total-C, LDL-C, apo B, and TG, and to increase HDL-C, in primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia (Type IIa and IIb). It displays lipid-modifying effects through the activation of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor α (PPARα), which increases lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles from plasma by activating lipoprotein lipase and reducing production of apoprotein C-II.
