A generic version of Soolantra® (ivermectin) Cream, 1% has been made available by Teva Pharmaceuticals.
Ivermectin cream, 1% is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory lesions of rosacea. While the mechanism of action in treating rosacea lesions is unknown, in clinical trials improvements were observed based on success rate using the 5-point Investigator Global Assessment scale, as well as the change from baseline in inflammatory lesion counts. Ivermectin cream was found to be more effective than vehicle starting from 4 weeks of treatment.
In clinical trials, the most commonly reported adverse events included skin burning sensation and skin irritation.
Teva’s Ivermectin cream, 1% is supplied in 45g tubes. Each gram of ivermectin cream contains 10mg of ivermectin and is intended for topical use.
