Generic Seasonique Now Available

Glenmark Generics announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Ashlyna (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol) Extended-Cycle Oral Contraceptive Tablets, the generic version of Teva Women’s Health’s Seasonique.

Seasonique is an extended-cycle oral contraceptive consisting of a progestin and estrogen. It is indicated for women to prevent pregnancy. Combination oral contraceptives lower the risk of becoming pregnant primarily by suppressing ovulation. Other possible mechanisms may include cervical mucus changes that inhibit sperm penetration and endometrial changes that reduce the likelihood of implantation.
