Breckenridge announced the launch of Azelastine HCl Nasal Solution, the generic version of Meda’s Astelin.
Astelin is indicated for the treatment of the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children aged ≥5 years old, and for the treatment of symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis in adults and adolescents aged ≥12 years old. Azelastine HCl, a phthalazinone derivative, exhibits histamine H1-receptor antagonist activity in isolated tissues, animal models, and humans. Its major metabolite, desmethylazelastine, also possesses H1-receptor antagonist activity.
