Breckenridge announced the launch of Pioglitazone HCl Tablets, the generic version of Takeda‘s Actos.
Actos is a thiazolidinedione indicated as adjunct to diet and exercise in type 2 diabetes, and as monotherapy or in combination with metformin, insulin, or a sulfonylurea. Actos decreases insulin resistance in the periphery and in the liver resulting in increased insulin-dependent glucose disposal and decreased hepatic glucose output.
Pioglitazone HCl is available in 15mg, 30mg, and 45mg dosage strength tablets. Breckenridge is launching this product immediately.
