Actavis Launches Generic Tiazac

Actavis announced the launch of Diltiazem HCl Extended-Release Capsules, the generic version of Forest Laboratories‘ Tiazac.

Tiazac, a calcium channel blocker, is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina. By inhibiting the entry of calcium into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, calcium channel blockers promote dilation of the coronary and peripheral arteries. As a result they decrease coronary vascular resistance and increase coronary blood flow.

Diltiazem HCl Extended-Release Capsules are available in 120mg, 180mg, 240mg, 300mg, 360mg, and 420mg dosage strengths.  Distribution of the product has commenced.
