Actavis announced the launch of Oxymorphone HCl Extended-Release Tablets, the generic version of Endo’s Opana ER.

RELATED: Pain Management Resource Center

Opana ER is an extended-release opioid formulation indicated for moderate-to-severe pain when the use of a continuous, around-the-clock opioid is required for an extended period of time.

It is not intended for use as an as-needed analgesic, for pain that is mild or not expected to persist for an extended period of time, for acute pain, or for postoperative pain unless already receiving chronic opioid therapy prior to surgery or if the postoperative pain is expected to be moderate-to-severe and persist for an extended period of time.

Oxymorphone HCl Extended-Release Tablets are available in 5mg, 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, and 40mg dosage strengths. Actavis is already marketing the 7.5mg and 15mg dosage strengths.
