Actavis Launches Generic Adalat CC Tablets

Actavis announced that the FDA has approved Nifedipine extended-release (ER) 90mg tablets, the generic equivalent of Bayer‘s Adalat CC tablets. 

Adalat CC is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker indicated for the treatment of hypertension. These potent vasodilators inhibit calcium influx through slow calcium channels during membrane depolarization. This action leads to arteriolar smooth muscle relaxation and decreases in peripheral vascular resistance.

Nifedipine extended-release tablets are already available from Actavis in 30mg and 60mg dosage strengths in 100- and 500-count bottles.
